DESTINATION MARKETING
The Conference and Visitors Bureau's primary objective is to attract and encourage visitors to stay in Montgomery County. To achieve this end,we increase awareness by directing our marketing strategies through publications, attendance at industry trade shows, advertising, press releases and the media.
GROUP TOUR AND CONFERENCE PLANNING
By actively cultivating contacts with group tour operators, meeting professionals, associations and other leaders in the group industry, we increase opportunities for our members to service groups, meetings and conferences, as well as familiarization trips into our County.
MEMBERSHIP NETWORKING
The CVB hosts networking and educational programs throughout the year. These events provide opportunities for members to learn more about CVB programs and how to get involved.
TRADE SHOWS
The CVB attends over ten trade shows each year targeting the leisure, group tour and meetings and conventions markets. We work continuously to disseminate information locally, regionally and nationally about Montgomery County's accommodations, attractions, events, restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Prospects and referrals are provided from our attendance at these shows to our members.
PUBLICATIONS
Valuable information about our County and our members can be found in Visit Montgomery, the official guide to Montgomery County, MD; The Montgomery County Calendar of Events; The Montgomery County Visitor Map; and the Meeting/Group Tour/Special Event Planner, all of which are available via walk-in or telephone request, as well as distributed throughout the county and other areas of the State. Our newsletter, the CVBrief offers members inside information on the CVB's activities and pertinent tourism information.
COOPERATIVE ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES
The CVB offers cooperative advertising opportunities to members throughout the year, offering the chance to affordably promote your business in state, regional and national publications.
MEMBERSHIP PROGRAMS
Throughout the year the CVB hosts programs that offer the membership an opportunity to network with other members and the CVB staff. The programs range from receptions, luncheons, familiarization tours and educational seminars to committee meetings on strategic planning issues.
VISITOR CENTER
The Conference and Visitors Bureau operates a Visitor Information Center in Germantown as a central location where visitors can receive brochures, maps, souvenirs and information about our State and County. Here our members display their brochures marketing their products. Travel counselors are able to extend a helping hand and personal assistance directly to the most important people in our business - the consumer.
LEGISLATIVE
The CVB serves as the voice for the hospitality industry on all legislative issues directly and indirectly concerning the industry on a local and state level.
WEBSITE
Our internet address, www.cvbmontco.com, provides members with their business listing and opportunity to link to their own web site. An innovative marketing tool highlighting Montgomery County's tourism assets, the web site generates hundreds of thousands of inquires per year. In fiscal year 2002 the CVB web site generated 538,950 hits.
SALES EFFORT
A full-time sales manager and tourism manager are on staff to attend trade shows and business expos, and continuously cultivate contact with group tour operators, group tour leaders, meeting professionals and other leaders in the group industry.
CONFERENCE SPEAKERS
To service the needs of the meetings market, the CVB offers the following conference services: suggested tours and activities, scheduling site inspections, business referrals, hospitality desks, bag stuffing and registration assistance.
